2026-27 Company Team Audition Information

For the 2026-27 dance season, HDC will hold auditions on July 22 & 23, 2026 for aspiring Competition Company members ages 7-18. For younger crossover dancers, particularly ages 7-8, the standard audition format is generally best suited for those with 2+ years of experience and/or an advanced skill set. These auditions are for dancers interested in being considered for HDC's Petite, Apprentice, Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen, and Senior Companies.

For aspiring dancers ages 4-8 with 2 years or less of advanced and/or Company-level experience, as well as dancers being considered for Mini Team or HDC's new Tiny Pre-Company Team, placement and auditions will take place through Dance 'Til You Drop Camp on July 20-23, 2026.

Prospective Company members should complete the following in order to be considered for the team:

1. Complete the Company Intake Form
This form communicates your dancer's intention to audition for the 2026-27 season and should be submitted prior to auditions.

2. Attend Auditions
Please attend the appropriate audition or placement process based on your dancer's age and experience level. Outlined below:

Audition Fee: A non-refundable fee of $30 per student is due on or before your dancer's audition date listed above.

Ages 4-8 Mini Team & Tiny Team Auditions

Dance 'Til You Drop Camp | July 20-23, 2026

For dancers ages 4-8 who are interested in Company placement and have 2 years or less of Company or advanced-level experience, Dance 'Til You Drop serves as both a training camp and the audition/placement process for Mini Team and HDC's new Tiny Pre-Company Team.

For dancers ages 4-8 interested in Mini Team or HDC's new Tiny Pre-Company Team, Dance 'Til You Drop serves as both a summer training camp (which goes up to age 11) and the audition/placement process for those teams.

Monday-Wednesday | 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
All registered dancers attend the 3-day training camp.

Thursday | 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Dancers who would like to be considered for Mini Team or the new Tiny Pre-Company Team must also register for and attend the 4th day, which serves as the official audition and placement day.

3-day registration: Training camp only
4-day registration: Training camp + audition day

HDC's new Tiny Pre-Company Team is designed for young dancers who show strong potential and readiness for a more committed training experience. This team serves as a developmental bridge into future Company participation while providing an exciting introduction to the team experience. Tiny Team dancers will attend 2 competitions, perform 1 jazz routine at both competitions, and perform 1 tap routine at recital (along with their jazz routine).

Fee:
$165 for 3-day camp
$220 for 4-day camp + audition

Attire: Fitted dancewear including leotard, tights, dance shorts, leggings, sports bra, tank top, etc.
Shoes: Jazz shoes, lyrical shoes, ballet shoes, tap shoes, and tennis shoes
Bring: Water bottle

Additional Audition Details

  • Please note: Audition ages are used only to split groups and give dancers space. They do not indicate the team where your dancer will participate next season.
    • For example, a common question we are asked is, "My dancer will be 16 by August. Should they audition with the 16 & up group?" In most cases, no - these age groups are simply used to organize auditions and create a smooth process.
  • What to Wear & Bring
    • Wear: Fitted dancewear including shorts, leggings, sports bra, tank top, leotard, etc. Please bring something loose-fitting for hip hop as well, such as a t-shirt or sweatpants.
    • Shoes: Jazz/lyrical shoes, tap shoes, tennis shoes
    • Bring: Water bottle and small snack
  • Students selected for Company will be notified by email by August 5.
  • Company students placed on any of the following teams are required to attend HDC's Summer Intensive August 10-14 as part of yearly team training and small/large group routine placement:
    • Vision Company III: Petite
      (2026-27 Minis will not be required to attend the full intensive, but may be invited to a portion on an individual basis.)
    • Create Company: Junior / Pre-Teen
    • Artistry Company: Teen / Senior
    • Apprentice Company I & II
  • 1-3 small/large group selections with special guest choreographers may be made at auditions. If your dancer is selected for one of these special routines, you will receive an invitation via email with choreography dates and participation fee information.
